I won't be able to write this week - its been a lot of hurry up and wait this week and now we're in a hurry stage. We're trying to get a car and drive up north to a research site before it gets dark tonight. Nicole and I will be out in the field until Thursday - hopefully then I can fill you in on the what's gone on here over the past few days.

Set the alarm for this morning at 8:30 am (just IN CASE i might sleep in). Turned on the TV straight away after I woke up at 8 and was even able to catch the pre-game broadcast for the Senegal vs. Sweden game. This game has been the talk of the town for a few days now and I didn't want to miss a minute of it. Ever since Cameroon were struck from the World Cup, I've been looking forward to Senegal getting farther than ever in the World Cup standings. Nicole and I got breakfast in our room just so we wouldn't miss any of it. It was tense for awhile there, but after an amazing goal in overtime they beat Sweden and now advance to the next stage! Hurray for Senegal! Everyone I've spoken with today in Harare has been in a good mood because of Senegal's/Africa's win.

We went to the botanical gardens today with our friend David. It is a wonderful oasis in the city and the air is remarkably clear. It was warm and sunny and they have impressive succulent plants there, the likes of which I've NEVER seen before.

We're going out into the field tomorrow and hopefully will be there until Thursday...
